Fair
Ground
words
by TonyŠ
A
sign appears lighting up the village green,
A
strange sight is there,
It
looks so weird,
A
huge marquee from nowhere has appeared.
Inviting
one and all to come and see
Roll
up, roll up, roll up,
The
wizened barker calls
Can
you face the real truth contained within these walls
Our
hall of mirrors is like no other you have seen
Step
inside and live your dreams.
The
crowd start to gather asking what is going on,
One
dollar down, one dollar down, form a queue,
Can
you handle what is in store for you,
Step
right up who's going to be first,
What
in your mind scares you the worst,
A
voice speaks up from the middle of the crowd,
I'll
do it old man, one dollar ain't much
An
I'm not that proud.
There's
nothing in there but mirrors smoke and light,
That
old carney trying to instill some fright.
I
ain't afraid of nothing you can do or say,
So
old man, here's my dollar, lets be on our way.
So
my young friend, you think your not so green,
There's
nothin' in that tent that ain't what it seems
Be
careful they say, pride goes before the fall,
I
ask you on more time, before you all,
Is
this truly what you want, there's no turning back once
you've gone inside,
Think
twice before you take this ride.
Here's
my dollar old man, why don't you take it,
Are
you trying to heighten the fear or just fake it.
I've
got nothin' to hide lets just step inside
An
see what I'll find on the other side.
